Comments (2) Under scorching mid-day heat in a slum dwelling in Cavite City, Philippines, young people pushed forward for change.
Our business is in booking hotels. But we humbly found ourselves in their midst. We were there with 2009 CNN Hero of the Year Efren “Kuya F!” Penaflorida and the Dynamic Teen Company’s Kariton Klasrum (classrooms in wooden push carts) when they resumed classes on 9th January from a two-week break for the holidays. Each Saturday, the youth group pushed four wooden carts carrying books, toys, first aid and hygiene kits, and a sampler of biscuits for snacks, towards a slum area past the Cavite City public market where children in poverty waited for them with eager anticipation.
